The book appealed to me on two levels — it appealed to my love for reading and to my love for psychology. Anyway, after a few months' hiatus I have just finished reading Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger's by John Elder Robison (Bantam, 2007). It's the bestseller that gives it away: “Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger's,” a memoir that focuses on the heartwarming, upsetting and hilariously bizarre moments of life on the autistic spectrum. This is a book by John Elder Robison. I've had this one on my radar since it was first released at the end of 2007. Mainly because the memoir is by the brother of Augusten Burroughs, an author who I truly admire. An autobiographical book about his life with Asperger's Syndrome. It features a photo of a geeky-eared boy, his eyes and mouth scrunched shut in a “you-can't-make-me” way. Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger's. (I did attend for May, I just didn't finish the book: Look Me In The Eye: My Life With Aspergers). Autism Speaks Science Board member John Elder Robison, author of Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger's, has a new book, Be Different: Adventured of a Free-Range Aspergian, that will be released in March. You gotta love the cover of the paperback edition of Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Aspergers.
